Jordan Poirier

Designer - Maker - Woodworker

Jordan is a Hamilton-based designer/maker with a bachelor's in Craft and Design in Furniture from Sheridan College.

Jordan grew up surrounded by nature and the craft of woodworking. From a young age, he spent his winters tinkering in his father's basement shop and his summers exploring the endless wilderness of northern Ontario’s lakes and bays on wooden boats built by his grandfather.

Through his work, Jordan aims to express his passion for the tradition of craft and the intimate connections we form with physical objects.

Our Practice

Our work explores the intimate relationships formed between objects and users over time by embracing the natural qualities of materials and working with their imperfections instead of against them. Each piece becomes a storyboard of the lifespan of the object and its role in your life. We encourage the formation of patinas and wear over time, embracing the impermanence and imperfection of the natural materials used.

We are fascinated with the small, seemingly mundane moments throughout each day and aim to use our work to encourage others to see, and apprentice these fleeting yet meaningful moments.

Our practice focuses primarily on solid wood free-standing furniture. Each piece is made to order and crafted by hand from natural materials. We take great pride in the quality of our craft and aim to make furniture that lasts for generations. The materials and finishes are chosen with an emphasis on longevity, sustainability, and an expression of the beauty within nature.
